Halloween Costume Storytime

join us for fun stories, activities, and a craft! We focus on building early literacy skills such as recognition of the alphabet and written language, as well as oral language skills through rhymes or songs. Caregivers are encouraged to participate in the fun! Preschool Story Time is also a great place to socialize with other families and meet new friends. This will be on Friday, October 31st from 11 am to 11:30 am!

This month, wear your costume for a special Halloween Storytime!

This program is presented by library staff.

The Last Wednesday Book Group

This open book group discusses classic, acclaimed, and great literature of all kinds.

This month the group is reading The Sentence by Louise Erdrich: A small independent bookstore is haunted by the store’s most annoying customer. Flora dies on All Souls’ Day, but she simply won’t leave the store. Tookie, who has landed a job selling books after years of incarceration, must solve the mystery of this haunting.

This book club will meet on Wednesday, October 29th, from 7 to 8 pm!

This program is presented by library staff.

Dialogue and Discussion Group

Are you interested in civil debate/discussion with others? Would you like to sharpen your skills in listening and understanding others, as well as speaking to others in an informal setting? Do you like to think about and discuss current events and philosophical issues? Join the group! The group will be on Monday, October 27th, from 6:30 to 7:30 pm!

This program is hosted by Adam Pizzo, a licensed teacher and debate moderator.

Lego® Challenge

Take on our LEGO® building challenge! We provide the prompts, you provide the creativity. Creations can be displayed in the children’s room at the Riverton library! This event will be held on Tuesday, October 21st from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm!

Children will be given a specific theme or goal to create a project, either separately or together. Building with LEGO® supports skill building and problem-solving for children. All LEGO® bricks will be provided by the library. Please do not bring in LEGO® bricks from home.

This is best for kids 6-9, but all children are welcome.
