Friends of the Riverton Free Library — Meeting Notes, Sept. 30, 2019

Seven people were in attendance.  It was decided by the group if we reduced the number of yearly meetings from 3 to 2, perhaps more members of the Friends would attend these meetings.  At the meetings decisions are made on how to raise funds and how to spend funds for the library.  Your voice is valued.  You are obviously a member of the Friends of the Riverton Library because you care about your home town library…please care enough to let your voice be heard.

Riverton librarian, Christian Pulverenti, was unable to attend.  He submitted a report thanking the Friends for their continued library support.  In the report was also a museum pass statistical report on the program usage.  Museum pass usage has already surpassed 2018 usage with three months left until the end of the year.

Treasure’s report:  Pat Brunker subbing for Eleanor Paladino reported that we have $6,677.63 in our account.  We have contributed $2,500 towards the purchase of chairs for the library.  Since the chairs were purchased through Headquarters it has slowed the receiving process.

Garden:  Iris Gaughan reported for Jan DeVries.  New garden addition is the pedestal plant stand.  A young boy was hired this summer to weed and trim.  We are looking to once again hire a young man to help with fall clean up.  Kim Paulsen is sending me a contact.

Used Book Sale:  Janice Papenberg reported that after the summer construction and redesign of the space was completed, she, Michael Robinson and Joann Costigan weeded and re-shelved the donated books.  The area looks especially inviting, still providing a nice break space for library personnel.  On Cinnaminson Day (9/29), weeded books were given away…168 people approached the Riverton Library booth and 157 books were given away.

Library Board of Trustee report:  Joann Costigan and Kim Paulsen both contributed to this report.  Kim is actively searching for a chair and/or chairs for the spring cocktail party.  She also reported that librarian, Christian Pulverenti, is following up with headquarters about the Riverton Library chair purchase.

Future projects:  The Candlelight House Tour is scheduled for December 2020.  If anyone can suggest a home for the tour please contact Iris Gaughan.  It was decided that since this is not a Tour year, the Friends would sell homemade Christmas cookies as a fund raiser.  A notice will be sent out in the beginning of December asking for cookie donations.

Future spending projects:  It was decided to contact the Insectarium Museum in Philadelphia for library museum pass information.  If possible we would like to join immediately.

Respectfully submitted by Iris Gaughan
