Summer is on its way, and it’s a great time to be outside! Drop by and join us on the Riverton Library lawn for fun, games, and art projects.

Best for ages 6-9 but all children are welcome.

Parenting and Paperbacks

Want to chat with other parents about the parenting book you just read? Are you looking for a place to discuss the joys and difficulties of raising kids? Join us for Parenting and Paperbacks!

We will be talking about a specific topic, and you are invited to read a book (or two) and come ready to add to the conversation. If you don’t have the opportunity to read a book, come for the discussion anyway!

For this meeting, we’ll be talking about raising kids with family values, beliefs, and ethics. Books on this topic include Raising Good Humans; The 5 Principles of Parenting; Family Values: Reset Trust, Boundaries and Communication with Your Child; The Me, Me, Me Epidemic; Mamaleh Knows Best; Strong and Kind; The Religions Book; Talk with Your Kids: 109 Conversations about Ethics and Things that Really Matter; How to Be Perfect: The Correct Answer to Every Moral Question; Beyond: How Humankind Thinks about Heaven; Hope for Cynics; A Faith Like Mine; Raising Freethinkers; A Kids Book about God; Fourteen Talks by Age Fourteen; How to Raise an Antiracist; What Do You Believe?

Spring into Shakespeare: Get Over It

Join us this spring as we celebrate The Bard with movies you might (or might not have!) known were Shakespeare adaptations.

This week’s selection is Get Over It (2001) – In this teen comedy, a high school senior desperately tries to win back his ex-girlfriend by joining the school play she and her new boyfriend are performing in, against the advice of friends. Rated PG-13.

This movie is based on A Midsummer Night’s Dream. If you’d like to read the play before watching, stop by Riverton Library to check out a copy. If not, just drop in to enjoy the movie.

Preschool Story Time

Join us for fun stories, activities, and a craft! We focus on building early literacy skills such as recognition of the alphabet and written language, as well as oral language skills through rhymes or songs. Caregivers are encouraged to participate in the fun! Preschool Story Time is also a great place to socialize with other families and meet new friends.

This event will take place on Friday, May 30th from 11 to 11:30 am!

This week’s selection is Scotland, PA (2001) – This black comedy retelling of Macbeth is set against the backdrop of a fast food restaurant in the early 70s in rural Pennsylvania. Joe McBeth is an unambitious hamburger stand employee driven to success by his scheming wife. Rated R.
