Library Association Meeting for January 2017

The Annual Meeting of the Riverton Library Board of Trustees, followed by a Regular Meeting took place January 23, 2016, at 7;30 p.m. at the library.

The meeting was called to order by President Kimberly Paulsen, who delivered the President’s Message.

Kim thanked retired Board members Eleanor Paladino and Kenneth Smith for their service and many volunteer hours to the library.  She noted our two successful fundraisers, Cinco de Mayo in May and the Candlelight House Tour in December 2016, and thanked Board members for their contributions, as well as the public for their support of the Riverton Library. The new roof, exterior paint and repair projects are finished, and we have received much positive feedback about our new look.

Jo Horton was elected to fill Eleanor Paladino’s three-year position and William Brown will fill Kenneth Smith’s one year unexpired term.  Board members re-elected to three-year terms are Felicia McCamy, Elaine Mead, Janice Papenberg and Beatrice Horn.  The slate of officers elected is as follows:  President: Kimberly Paulsen, Vice-President: Cathy Martin, Secretary: Beatrice Horn, and Treasurer: Susan Bye.

After a full review of the project, the Board has approved to have a water dispenser installed.

Karen Healey spoke about the up-coming “Paint the Porch Pink” event, sponsored by the Porch Club.  Karen requested the Board contribute $300 toward the purchase of yarn, specifically used to knit breast prostheses called Knitted Knockers, which will be used by the KnitWits library knitting group, to which she belongs.  The group will knit these comfortable and beautiful accessories and offer them, free of charge, the day of the event.  The Board agreed to this contribution.

Our Annual Appeal will begin soon.  We hope you will remember us, and, know that we strive to be a friend to the Riverton-Palmyra community, and never take your support for granted.

Respectfully submitted, Beatrice Horn, RFL Association Board Secretary
