New York’s Libraries Secret Apartments

Image thanks to wikipedia

An article by Sarak Laskow shows the inside of 13 secret apartments in New York Libraries. These apartments were intended for custodians to live in when the Carnegie libraries were built. These libraries were heated by coal so a worker had to live in the library to maintain the heat source, hence the apartments. But they have since fallen into disrepair and some had been remodeled into usable library space.

About Emily Terifay

Hi! My name is Emily Terifay. I am a current student at Clarion University and studying to become a Librarian. I love books and reading, my favorite genres are fantasy and sci-fi. I also have a mini library at my house and I add more books to it at least every two months. I also have two guinea pigs, Timothy and Lemon who are adorable, if not a little annoying at times.
